Thank you for visiting us at the SyysMatti market

We took part in the SyysMatti autumn market around the cathedral hill in Espoo Centre on 19–20 September. At our stand on the Lagstad field we sold locally produced honey and baked goods, with all proceeds going to our kindergarten. The atmosphere was lovely and we had plenty of visitors, and a few rain showers didn't slow anyone down. Thank you to everyone who shopped and stopped by for a chat!

    Why Honey Monsters?

    More than a kindergarten

Honey Monsters offers full-day English language immersion early childhood education for children aged 3–7. In Keski-Espoo, we also have the Pikkuiset group for 2-year-olds in Finnish. Children usually start without any English and acquire the language naturally in everyday life. We also welcome families where English is one of the home languages, as long as the child speaks Finnish. The Kela private day care allowance covers a large part of the monthly fee.

    Language immersion

Your child learns English naturally through everyday life and play – not from textbooks but through genuine interaction. We follow the immersion method (Early Total Immersion).

    Committed staff

A skilled team, many of whom have worked with us for years. The association has funded language immersion training at the University of Vaasa for four of our staff members, and all permanent staff are offered long-term continuing training.

    Owned by families

A non-profit supporting association – all funds go towards the children's wellbeing. We have been awarded the Social Enterprise mark. Families join the association when their child starts at the kindergarten.

    High-quality early childhood education

Our activities are supervised by the City of Espoo. Social skills, emotional skills and humour are at the heart of everyday life. The Kela private day care allowance covers a large part of the monthly fee.

    Music and dance

A weekly music play school led by a teacher from the Avonia Music Institute. Dance lessons led by Anu Raita (Pilates Atelje) are also available for an extra fee.

Pre-primary education and the Pikkuiset group

Pre-primary education in English following the Finnish pre-primary curriculum. After pre-primary education, children can apply for Espoo's bilingual school classes. In Keski-Espoo, we also have the Pikkuiset group for 2-year-olds in Finnish – language immersion starts at the age of 3.

“We chose Honey Monsters for its immersion method (Early Total Immersion), but after three years we value everything else about Honey Monsters just as much: the high-quality learning environment, the kindergarten's values and its good sense of humour. We think it's brilliant and one of a kind.”

    Frequently asked questions

    Questions and answers

Not at all! Language immersion is designed for children who do not speak English. They learn naturally through everyday interaction.

No. Research shows that language immersion can also strengthen skills in the child's mother tongue. Children get plenty of Finnish at home and in their surroundings.

Yes! There are places available at both of our kindergartens, and start dates are flexible.

Our pre-primary education follows the Finnish pre-primary curriculum in English. After pre-primary education, children can apply for Espoo's bilingual (Finnish–English) classes, which are offered at several schools in Espoo. Alternatively, children can move on to a regular Finnish-speaking class – they are well prepared for both.

Full language immersion (Early Total Immersion) starts at the age of 3. Two-year-olds work in Finnish in the Pikkuiset group and get to know English in a playful way.

Every child has their own early childhood education plan. We work closely with parents and adapt our activities to each child's needs.
