Families where English is one of the home languages

Honey Monsters can also be a good fit for families where one of the home languages is English, as long as the child speaks Finnish and can take part in a Finnish-speaking peer group.

The child speaks Finnish and can take part in a Finnish-speaking peer group.

English can be one of the family's home languages.

Full language immersion (Early Total Immersion) begins at the age of 3.

The working language of the Pikkuiset group in Keski-Espoo is Finnish.

What does this mean in practice?

Everyday life at Honey Monsters is built on Finnish and English side by side. Children may use Finnish, and our staff understand Finnish. English is introduced consistently through the immersion method (Early Total Immersion) from the age of 3.

If your family speaks both English and Finnish at home, or English is one of your child's home languages, we assess the application case by case, based on your child's Finnish skills and the situation in the group. What matters most is that your child can take part safely in everyday kindergarten life and in the activities of the peer group.

This applies to both of our kindergartens. In Keski-Espoo, the working language of the Pikkuiset group for 2-year-olds is Finnish, and the group supports the child's everyday life in Finnish before the immersion path itself begins.
